RE: ATMOSPHERIC TEST
Attached to this letter.is a data sheet concerning a test made in the machine shop. The test was prompted by an observation by Harold Illig during his recent visit to Wenatchee.
The sanding operation is a short-term non-routine thing. However, the only ventilation provided was supplied by an industrial vacuum cleaner nozzle placed at the rear of the small sanding table. This sanding opera tion will be expanded in the future because of increased mold size. Our Engineering Department is now designing a larger table which will include a more efficient vacuum dust collecting system.
Nevertheless, our test indicates that the dust concentration in the work man's breathing zone is well below the recommended threshold limit for asbestos, and I cannot conclude that any significant hazard exists at this time.
Our recommendation for improved ventilation at the sanding table was made with the knowledge that there would be some future increase in activity.
