R. Monin and J. W. Greenlee to asbestos fibers. DATE OF SURVEY September 19, 1979 DISCUSSION On September 19, 1979, separate breathing zone samples were taken on J. R. Monin and J. W. Greenlee to determine their exposure to asbestos fibers while they were stripping approximately 40 feet of suspected asbestos insulation from a steamline running to S-6 Precipitron in the basement equipment area of Building 720. During the stripping both men wore 3M disposable dust masks and coveralls. Before stripping, the insulation was wetted. After the stripping, it was placed in plastic bags for landfill disposal. CONCLUSIONS The exposure of J. R. Monin and J. W. Greenlee were 0.3 and 0.5 fibers > 5 pm/cm3 respectively. Both values are well below the 0SHA standard of 2 fibers > 5 gm/cm^ on a time-weighted average for eight hours. See results below for exposure data.
