Subject: RE: December C-8 PACE Team Meetings
Greg,
On Friday, December 6 I'll participate in a meeting in Geneva with Hoechst and ICI about analytical methods to determine migration of C-8 from PTFE coated pans into food simulants. The idea is that we share costs of this investigation which is a legal requirement for Europe. Attached is the purpose statement. One of the issues is that we don't have a good method for migration into olive oil, because during heating it oxidizes into fatty acids, which disturb the colorimetric analysis. I have some ideas about this, but maybe it is good to put this subject on the agenda of the PACE team meeting, and invite someone at your side of the Atlantic who is knowledgeable about this subject.
best regards,
Rik
