You perhaps recall that in our previous conversation X had supposed that we had an unlimited time in which to raise this sum. I am particularly anxious that if possible this laboratory should establish official con nections with the Metropolitan, for reasons which you can well understand. Do you suppose that there is any chance of our getting action on the question in the near future? If not, I will 'of necessity have to look elsewhere for financial support, because their proposal is too good to turn down.
