Fittoi- X delayed replying to your letter of January 24th since the samples obtained on not been analyzed They have now been coSpj^eo^ind X am sending you herewith the report of the* analyses, together w i t h a bill for our services in malting them X have purposely omitted any reference to the interpretation o f these results on the report sheet itself As a matter of fact, these results are clearly indicative of a significant exposure to lead compounds on the part of this man* Xt is, of course, conceivable that he was not sufficiently careful in the collection of the samples and that both of them were slightly contaminated with lead dusts from his hands or clothing. On th Other hand this is improbable since they are both quite consistent with each other, and have exactly the same meaning. The lead content of the feces is almost six times the mean normal level, while the .. lead concentration in t h urine Js somewhat more than seven times the mean normal urinary concentration. Indeed the urinary sample contains lead in quantities which may be and often are associated with the existence of lead . intoxication, w; , "' The above findings do not mean of necessity that Hr. will develop lead intoxication. They do mean, however, that the conditions under which he has been working are sufficiently hazardous that they might produce lead intoxication in men-who are exposed to this extent. These results may not be entirely characteristic of the conditions under which other men are working, nevertheless such evidence as we have from these observa tions indicates that the conditions of lead exposure of this man were and are hazardous.
