We will be updating you on our activities from time to time this year and we want you to get involved. Please do get in touch with us if you have any suggestions or just want to give us your views (Chair: domini c.way@kcl .ac.uk). 1. Call for Abstracts SRA are now accepting abstracts for the 2018 Annual Meeting in New Orleans, LA, USA, December 2nd-6th. Submission deadline: May 29th, 2018. Having already heard from some of you, we have identified some exciting symposium/roundtable topics. What we would like to do is bring together interested speakers well before the deadline so that we can arrange some coherent sessions for the annual meeting. If you are interested in contributing to one of the below topics, then please e-mail us well in advance of the deadline so that we can connect you with those that suggested the topics and others with similar interests. Alternatively, if you have other ideas for topics not covered below then please get in touch. This will significantly help us bring together the right speakers from the RP&L SG. 1. Vacant Officer Position Due to unforeseen circumstances, we are now looking for a Treasurer/Secretary for this year (2017/2018). The position provides a great opportunity to become more involved in SRA and our speciality group. Many people that have filled this role in the past have gone on to become RP&L Chairs. If you, or someone you know, would be interested in this position then please send an e-mail directly to the Chair (dominic.wav@kcl.ac.uk) before April 6th. 3. 2018 Activities Sierra Club v. EPA 18cv3472 NDCA Tier 12 ED 002061 00046189-00001 We are making changes and want to focus our time on making this specialty group work for you. A few weeks ago we had our first meeting, and based on suggestions from members, our 2018 priorities are: 1) To improve how members connect throughout the year and especially between annual meetings. In particular, we are looking into new ways for RP&L members to stay in touch and will be sending out an update on our progress in due course. 2) Connecting more with SRA-Europe and some of the new regional chapters (e.g. the Benelux and Nordic chapters). We want to encourage and promote Risk Policy and Law across the North Atlantic and beyond. 3) Organising events to follow-up on symposiums and roundtables from the annual meeting. We will be in touch from time to time but please do contact us with your own suggestions and ideas. We are always happy to hear from you. All best wishes, The 2018 RP&L Committee Chair: Dominic Balog-Way Vice-Chair: Yvonne Stevens Past-Chair: Kirk Hartley Councillor: Charlene Liu Sierra Club v.
