R.y^oresman W. 0/ Engman As per our conversation we had a visityi*rom Mr. John Kutt of Environmental Science and Engineering, Inc/ of Gainsville, Florida. Mr. Kutt called the Supervisor of thfe Sauget Village Waste Treatment Plant to arrange a visit. We/intercepted him, and deter mined that his firm was under contract io the EPA to determine con centrations of PCB's in air, water and/soil. He was involved in developing a.strategy for sampling. Re proposed to take pictures of sampling points only and no samples at this time. A copy of the EPA's letter to his firm is attached. After clearance through Monsanto Legal people we escorted him to the Village Waste Treatment Plant and he took about ten shots of the location including the influent and effluent points. We understand he,also intends to take some photographs of our Plant's perimeter from the highway. i. During our visit we volunteered that there was no sample point that exclusively represented Monsanto's effluent. That Sauget has about 11 industries. In answer to his questions we did not know the percentage of various PCB isomers manufactured. We produced .no DDT since mid 1950. We produce many Organic Compounds in about 25 product families, most of which are organics. All asked for any brochure we had on WGK products. Since I had none I game him the Corporate "Environmental" brochure given to visitors. We also gave him your telephone number as a most knowledgable person in the PCB area.
