The vacuum tested i s intended to be marketed under the Rotunda label fo r use in cleaning asbestos laden brake lin in g dust. We subjected the vacuum to our standard asbestos vacuum cleaner procedure. During the f i r s t te s t se rie s, the disposal bag ruptured, but in the second and th ird series we encountered no problems with the bags. Results of a ir samples taken during the t e s t se ries exceeded the present OSHA Threshold Limit Value in two samples and exceeded the threshold Limit Value effective July 1, 1976, in seven of the nine a ir samples taken. Therefore, we recommend th a t the vacuum be rejected a t th is tin e . I t should be noted, th a t the fa ilu re of th is vacuum i s not so severs as to preclude fu rth er consideration i f improvements are made by the manufacturer. Henry B.
