Bridgeport, Connecticut Dear Mr. Simpson: X have read the letter of January 10th from Mr. J. P. McMahon, of the Industrial Hygiene Foundation of America, which you sent to me. You will note in a postscript on this letter that Mr. McMahon refers to the authorization he has received from the Asbestos Textile Institute for a preliminarysurvey of the industry to be undertaken by the Foundation. The Asbestos Textile Institute Committee on air hygiene has been planning a cooperative program for the improvement in the air hygiene (dust control) in asbestos plants. In order to avoid the possibility of the Committee getting into deep water on this subject, I suggested to Mr. Luttenberger, who is a member of the Committee, that the matter be taken up with Mr, McMahon. Mr. McMahon, after giving the matter further consideration,agreed to have a preliminary survey made, which would be the basis for a decision by the Foundation in respect to taking on this assign ment. If the Foundation act favorably on this matter, they will then give the Asbestoslextile Institute an estimate of the cost and it v/ill be necessary to decide to -what extent they can obtain the financial assistance of the various members of the Institute.
