George Danner, Superintendent, Plant Services, talked to the group about procedures. Briefly, he emphasized how everyone has a responsibility in helping establish safe procedures as well as seeing that those already es tablished are followed. In the general discussion that followed, the AVIP program and a new video tape for training contractors were discussed.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS
HCN Alarms
The HCN alarm and blue lights near the HCN storage tanks are not being observed by traffic as emergency lights.
This problem is recognized by unit supervision and corrective action
is being planned.

Dock 1 TV - Remote Operated Gate
The remote operated gate of dock 1 was reported to be a hazard.
This discussion was postponed due to the absence of M. Riddle.

The pipe storage and overhead crane represent hazards.
Warehouse A supervision reported that they did not know why this was a hazard. This discussion was postponed due to the absence of J. M. Burkhalter, the originator of the safety hazard statement.
NEW BUSINESS Fresh Air Masks - Glasses

The use of fresh air masks without glasses was brought up as a problem.
A. Glass stated that glasses that will fit in the masks can be obtained through Safety Supply.

Tarps - Welding
Tarps used to catch sparks are resulting in fires.
This is recognized as a plant problem. Fireproof tarps are being in vestigated. In the meantime, all tarps used to catch sparks should be wet down before leaving.
Safety Meetings
e The HSC was going to develop a list of suggestions for improving safety meetings.
This was postponed due to the absence of W. E. Bean.
The next HSC meeting will be held October 27, 1981, at 1:30 p.m. in the Personnel Building Conference Room 2.
The guest speaker will be S. G. Pappas.
