Grumbles March 27, 1987 TOXICITY TESTING NEEDS FOR CERTAIN ETHER SULFATES VIST/ Ponca City is currently producing samples of Alfonic 10-22 ES and 10- 46 ES for Colgate. The Vista Toxicology Assessment Committee has reviewed these products and determined that certain testing may be required if these products or a similar product or product blend is commercialized. Vista has no toxicity data on any products similar enough to allow valid extrapolation and the VTAC was not aware of similar commercial products for which data would be available. We will search the available literature but it is anticipated no applicable data will be found. Grumbles March 27, 1987 TOXICITY TESTING FOR 1620 ETHOXYLATES VIST/ The Vista Toxicology Assessment Committee (VTAC) has reviewed the testing needs for 1620 Ethoxylates being developed with Sandoz. As of this writing, no information was available to the VTAC regarding the potential for a 4-mole or 8-mole ethoxylate to be commercialized. The same testing (described below) is recommended for both products. If testing is to proceed at this time, both ethoxylates would have to be tested. This is due to the fact the acute toxicological profiles for ethoxylates is determined to some degree by the moles of E0 \ present. A fairly distinct difference could occur between a 4-mole and an 8-mole ethoxylate of the same alcohol. The VTAC recommends the following testing: f Cost Acute dermal toxicity 600. Primary Skin Irritation 350. Primary Eye Irritation 400. TOTAL 1350. Please indicate approval for the testing in writing.
