BID SPECIFICATIONS FOR REWORKING AND RESURFACING REFINERY STREETS Coastal States Petrochemical CompanyCorpus Christi, Texas October, 1967 CED0005726 JOB SPECIFICATIONS I. PROJECT AND LOCATION A. Project 1, indicated on refinery map in blue, will consist of removal of 525 cu. yds. common excavation, preparing subgrading, furnishing and setting up of 735 cu. yds. of caleche, a two-course surface treat ment of 3,148 sq. yds. consisting of a two-course surfacing treatment requiring 1,731 gallons of OA 175 asphalt, of which approximately .30 gal. per sq. yd. on first course and .25 gal. per sq. yd. on second course. First course of aggregate will consist of 35 cu. yds. of type PB, grade 3, applied at the rate of 1 cu. yd. per 90 sq. yds. Second course of aggregate shall consist of 33 cu. yds. of Type PB, grade 4, applied at the rate of 1 cu. yd. per 95 sq. yds. B. Project 2, indicated on refinery map in red, will consist of 50 cu. yds. of type D pre-mix asphalt for patching holes and existing low places in existing pavement. There is approximately 8,300 sq. yds. in this project to receive two-course surface treatment which will require 4,550 gal. of OA 175 asphalt, 92 cu. yds. of aggregate PB, grade 3 and 87 cu. yds. of type PB, grade 4, applied at the same ratio ' as Project 1. C. Project 3, indicated on the refinery map in green will consist of 3,658 sq. yds of 27. lime stabilization top, 6 in. of existing base and 3,658 sq. yds. of two-course surface treatment requiring 2,012 gal. of OA 175 asphalt, 41 cu. yds. aggregate of type PB, grade 3 and 39 cu. yds. of type PB, grade 4, to be applied at the same ratio as indicated in Project 1 and 2. II. GENERAL NOTES Basis of estimate. Flexible base caleche, 52.5 cu. yds. per station. Asphalt 0A 175, first course .30 gal. per sq. yd., second course .25 gal. per sq. yd. aggregate first course, type PB, grade 3, 1 cu. yd. per 90 sq. yds., second course, 1 cu. yd. per 95 sq. yds. Bid items on this project will be only as listed. Cubic yards excavation, which shall consist of all loading, hauling and disposal. Flexible caleche base will consist of all loading, hauling, and all other manipulations required to set up this materi al for surfacing. Asphalt 0A 175, shall include hauling, heating, and apply ing through a calibrated distributor. All aggregate shall include all loading, hauling and all other manipulations for distribution, including rolling, type DD pre-mix asphalt shall consist of all labor, rolling, compacting and all other manipulations necessary to level up areas to be patched. 2% lime stabi lization will consist of furnishing all lime slurry and all manipulations to obtain a 957, Proctor density. All excavation to be hauled and dumped within one and one-half mile of Refinery. All rolling, sprinkling, preparing of sub-grades and other manipulation of materials are not pay items, but subsidiary to pay items of the contract. All materials shall meet State Highway Department specifications and shall be subject to test. All sub-base and base materials shall have 957=, Proctor density and will be tested during construction by testing laboratory. All sweeping and cleaning of streets shall be included in the price bid for oil and aggregates. No open fire will be permitted in the refinery. All oils shall be heated to proper temperature before entering refinery. CED0005727 -2- Each project will be bid separately. III. WORK TO BE PERFORMED All work must be executed in a good and workmanlike manner and in accordance with the true intent of the specifications referred to herein and will be subject to inspection and test by Coastal States to ascertain that the specifications have been complied with. Any work or materials not expressly covered herein or by the specifications, but which are gainly implied therein as being required for the job, shall be considered as part of the contract. Work to be performed under this labor contract between Coastal States Petrochemical Company and others shall be as follows: A. Safety Precautions. If fire or explosion hazards are present, proper precautions shall be taken before any work is done. B. Inspection All work under this specification shall be subject to inspection by the owner or his representative. All parts of the work shall be accessible to the inspector. The contractor shall correct such work as is found defect ive under the specifications. If the contractor does agree with the inspector, the arbitration or settlement procedure established in the contract, if any, shall be followed. If no arbitration or settlement procedure is established, the procedure specified by the American Arbitration Association shall be used. IV. APPLICABLE SPECIFICATIONS A. Contractor shall, at its sole cost and expense, furnish all necessary supervision, labor, tools, equipment, supplies, and all materials, all expendable and/or consumable materi als such as motor oils, fuel and greases, etc., to perform all work herein specified. B. Contractor shall provide proper supervision on job site at all times, including supervision by prime contractor for any sub-contract work by others. V. GENERAL CONDITIONS A. Working hours shall be from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Coastal States holidays will be observed. B. Contractor to furnish portable sanitary facilities and drinking water for construction forces if required. CED0005728 -3- C. Coastal States shall have the right to effect changes in construction. Should changes be made, then the amount of payment or basis for payment shall be determined by Coastal States and the contractor prior to the starting of the work for which such change is made. D. Insurance. Contractor shall provide and maintain, at his own expense and cost, with carriers acceptable to Coastal States, the following insurance, to be evidenced by Certificates of Insurance furnished to the company by the carriers: 1. Workmen's Compensation Insurance, including death coverage. 2. Public Liability and Property Damage Insurance on operations with minimum limits as follows: (a) Bodily Injury----------------------------$100,000/$300,000 (b) Property Damage------------------------ $50,000 on any one accident E. The contractor shall submit his bid to Attention Mr. B. A. Paulson Coastal States Petrochemical Company, P. 0. Box 521, Corpus Christi, Texas, 78403, not later than October 16, 1967. The quoted price shall include all remuneration required by con tractor for required work. F. The contractor will comply with all Coastal States safety measures, etc. G.
