EYE IRRITATION TEST IN BABBITS
Procedure; One-tenth milliliter of undiluted test material was placed into the
right conjunctlval sac of each of 2 male albino rabbits.** After 20 seconds, 1
treated eye was washed with tap water for 1 minute. The treated eye of the other
rabbit was not washed. Observations of the cornea, iris and conjunctiva were made with a hand-slit laap at 1 and 4 hours, and at 1, 2, and 3 days, Fluor-i-strip
stain and a biomlcroscope were used at examinations after the day of treatment.

Summary :BB^BBbused transient slight corneal cloudiness, mild to slight
conjunctiv^is^nth copious discharge and no iritis when tested in the eye of a
rabbit. This eye returned to normal within 1 day. An eye dosed with the compound
and promptly washed had mild to slight conjunctivitis and no corneal or iritic
effects. This eye was normal within 2 days'
