Kehoe I acknowledge with thanks receipt of your letter of June 6 regarding a paper prepared by Dr. Giroire concern ing the medical aspects of the control of the manufacture of tetraethyl lead in France. Personally, I see no particular objection to the subject matter appearing for publication in medical journals. There may, however, be some reverberation which might cause some disturbance in the minds of workmen handling tetraethyl lead. I should think that that would be up to our colleagues, Kuhlmann, to decide. I am submitting the text to our duFont friends to ascertain their views and meanwhile will see if there are any objections from some of the people in the hew York office. As soon as I receive the respective views of the various parties contacted, 1 will advise you. Soiae days ago I received a letter from Mr. Thenault containing a copy of a paper prepared by Dr. Giroire and others on the medical aspects of the control of the manufacture of tetraethyl lead. I have gone over this and have done some editing of it but have not made any attempt to put It in any final fona for publication* for the reason that it seemed <jult certain to me that it * would have to be revised considerably before being acceptable to Ethyl Gasoline Corporation and the DuPont Company. There is nothing in principle or in detail in the paper which is not suitable for publication in a medical journal from my point of view. Gn the other hand 1 could not take the responsibility for approving the information given to matters of manufacture and plant design. Accordingly I am sending the original paper to you in order that you can see the figures and the general arrangement of the article, r m also sending.a granslatipn which I think is accurate except tooths extent'that I have-made certain editorial changes and a few corrections, ' I would appreciate it if you would go into this matter as fully as you think is necessary both for your colleagues in the New York office and for the DuPont people. When you have made whatever changes or deletions are necessary* you Can either return the paper to me or you can deal directly with Thenault about the matter.
