Asbestos Monitoring at Institute Plant
Attached are the results of asbestos exposure monitoring conducted on April 16, 1985 while construction employees stripped approximately 20 ft. of old insulation from a six inch steam line at the SEVIN unit.
Two insulators were used on the job with one manning the water hose and the other stripping. Both cleaned up the stripped insulation and placed it in bags. The steam line had been laid out on the ground and surrounded with a barricade and signs indicating potential asbestos hazard. Both employees wore cartridge respirators, coveralls, gloves, and boots while working on the job.
8oth samples were found to contain levels of asbestos fibers well below the permissible exposure limit of 2.0 fibers per c.c. of air. Please notify the employees of their exposure results. If we can be of further assistance, please contact us on either extension 3750 or extension 5904.
