BRANCH ft. l. t). 2 7-tf REVIEWER'S SIGNATURE BRUCE HEINZE SUMMARY/RECOMMENDATIQNS Employees in the Cellulose Plant have a potential exposure to methyl chloride, propylene oxide, dimethyl ether, vinyl chloride, dust and noise. Area samples were taken for these materials in areas of potential exposure. In addition, personnel air, noise and dust monitoring was conducted for several of the jobs throughout the plant. Results of the monitoring for chemicals showed 2 areas to be above the Dow IHG limits of 3 ppm for Propylene Oxide. All dust exposure moitoring showed to be acceptable. Noise monitoring results showed the Train 1 and 2 Wash job, E-lll area and the grinder job to be above the OSHA allowable exposure guideline. Hearing protection is worn for these job assignments and all others in areas above 85 dB(A)-. High noise areas are clearly marked throughout the plant with "Hearing Protection Required",signs. Three samples were taken for asbestos exposure when contractors were removing transite containing asbestos. All three samples indicated exposure below the exposure guidelines.
