Tbe sale of dry vblte lead Is nev determined by tbe amount of production permitted us by CPA and our stocks at Bast Chicago and In warehouses. We are unable te supply the desand and have been cur tailing purchases of regular eustasMrs and have been turning devn nev business that has been offered us. Despite tbe shortage ef vegetable
oils, tbe shortage of other plgnents plus the tremendous demand for paint has caused considerable substitution of dry vblte lead for these other pigments.
At last Chicago our stock ef dry vhlte lead is the lowest It
has been In years. That stock for sale as dry vhlte lead Is devn te about 100 tens and ve have about 200 tons In oanorelal warehouses. Some ef our warehouses are entirely out of stock and It vlll very likely
be several weeks before ve can get enough tonnage te replenish then. There Is no likelihood ef any Increase la steeke at this tins.
Ok March 27th I attended an emergency meeting ef the Lead Pigment Msaafhetnrers Industry Advisory Ccoalttec which vas held In Washington. There very likely vlll be a re-issue of Order N-384 vhlch controlled the amount ef pig lead that could be used la manufacturing dry vhlte lead. Fer the second quarter the gueta vlll very likely be
38-1/2% of the base period which vas the first six months ef 1944. For the first quarter It vas 4?jf. There vlll be ae restrictions en the use of dry whits lead but Inventories In tbe hands ef consumers will bo limited to 30 days.

To noaariM, sine oxide sales continued the upward trend in February and this upward trend will be continued in March. The increase for February over January was slight but far March over February it will be substantial, March sales being approximately 1,900,000 pounds.
The volune of dry white lead sales in January and February was maintained to a considerable extent by liquidation of inventories at Mast Chicago and in eosssercial warehouses. Sale of dry white lead is now governed by the amount of production pcnaltted by CPA. We are unable to supply the deaaad. March sales will be at about the level for February but for subsequent months the sale of dry white lead will be lower.
