This guidance is the result of significant effort by Corporate Medical to interpret and streamline OSHA's requirements wherever possible. This work included a reworking of existing employee exam questionnaires and specific testing requirements. As discussed in the attached, the revised asbestos standard generally identifies a program entrance criteria of 0.1 fibers/cc air, averaged over 8 hours, 30 days/year. While current medical programs already have broad coverage, it is possible that additional employees may have to be considered for inclusion. This determination should be coordinated with the locations Industrial Hygiene group. Please note, however, that where no additional employees are identified, changes will have to be made in the content of the examination program now in place. A November 17 compliance deadline exists for brake repair personnel, and January 16, 1987 for all others. Questions concerning this matter can be referred to Drs. C. E. Ross LAM 024970 A. D.
