House Paint 306 One Coat Chalk Resistant White is a new listed item that was adODted at the Managers' Meeting held June 7-8, 1961. The new paint combines the qualities of the present P. *1 L. House Paint 307 One Coat White with the chalk resistance and tintability of P, *c L. House Paint 303 Chalk Resistant White. When used as a white, the paint hides unusually well and resists dis coloration from fumes and mildew. Tints made from P. *c L. Lead-containing colorants, for examole, will destroy the fume resistant qualities of the base baint. While the new paint is as mildew resistant as we can make it, it will not be identified as mildew resistant on the label, or in other printed literature. This omission is a deliberate one. Paints that are claimed to be mildew resistant must be registered annually as economic poisons in a half dozen states and their labels are under constant scrutiny. A further factor in this decision is that even the best mildew resistant paints sometimes mildew in critical areas, like the Gulf coast, where ideal con ditions exist for the growth of mildew. P. & L. House Paint 306 One Coat Chalk Resistant White has inherently sticky working qualities to discourage spreading the paint too far. This makes it possible to obtain adequate hiding and protection in a single application. The paint should not be thinned, except to replace thinner lost by evaporation. The addition of thinner will ease the working, but overthinning will destroy the effectiveness of the paint as a one-coat finish. P. ?c L. House Paint 306 One Coat Chalk Resistant White hides as well as P. h L. House Paint 307 One Coat White and better than either P. *c L. House Paint 300 Outside White or P. *c L. House Paint 303 Chalk Resistant White. P. #c L. House ?aint 306 One Coat Chalk Resistant White levels better than ?. % L. House Paint 303 Chalk Resistant White and oroduces a slightly higher initial gloss. Unlike P. *c L. House Paint 307 One Coat White, the new paint is not a wself cleaning" paint, but chalks slowly. It does not retain its whiteness as well as the former. It is an ideal white for use on old work where the chalk from P. *c L. House Paint One Coat White would wash down and stain brick, masonry, shingles or other dark colored surfaces. P. 1 L. House Paint 306 One'Coat Chalk Resistant White is intended for one coat reoainting. One coat work is practical only if the old oaint is not extremely porous, badly cracked or badly weathered, or if the new paint color'does not differ markedly from that of the old paint. The paint may be applied over primer, but there is no economy in paying a premium for a one coat finish and then using it in a two coat system. If P. *c L. Multipuroose Tinting Color (except English Rose Lake, American Vermilion, and Ultramarine Blue, which are unsuitable for exterior use). P. L.
