Tom, I believe the facial hair situation can be divided into three considerations:
1. Law 2. Personnel Relations aspects, particularly non-exempt
and salaried. 3. Cost
Law - Need definition of emergency use of respiratory equip ment and who is involved.
Personnel Relations - What is reasoning behind requiring ALL personnel to get seal? What do we do with contractors such as telephone men, etc.?
Cost - If you define emergency as something which could happen anywhere in the plant and therefore everyone must be able to get a seal, then it logically follows that:
a) Everyone must be trained in the use of the mask. b) There must be a sufficient number of masks in the
plant to cover any situation. c) The masks must be located to fulfill the need specified
in b). d) Where more than one type of mask is required, you must
be prepared to do a), b), and c) for all types of masks.
