The British Toilet F r eparations Federalion is in the process of .drafting specifications on talc. These will involve density concentration techniques followed by x*ray analysis. Fred Pooley has developed the methods and checked the Italian talc for chrysotile and other asbestos contaminants. He found none; however, I am concerned that our Vermont talc will from time to time show traces of tremolite. In order to check this, please send samples of Vermont talc from different batches directly to Fred Pooley, with the request that he check for tremolite by the proposed TPF method. I would suggest that you send samples which we recently ran, if you have enough.
We were promised a draft of the proposed test method. If this has not arrived, please write to Bob Dean so that you, too, may check the method. PleaBe ex pedite the above.
Als.o, Fred Pooley would like about 250 grams of our process on the talc so that he may study the removal of tremolite. Please handle this.
