based on m e understanding that asbestos is narmful to the health of workers and to environment at large as well. Labor safety inspector Giannasi has documented the cases of 36 workers who have died from exposure to asbestos on the job.
The problem is that at the time, Barelll left his position as Labor Minister and that his successor, Marcelo Pimentel, refused to sign the agreement. The use of asbestos is not illegal in Brazil. The GM case, according to Giannasi, involves the communication of false information to the PR T and a lack of compliance with Annex 12 of Regulatory Norm 15, which requires that asbestos users inform workers and final consumers of asbestos-containing products of m e risks to which they are exposed.
