Pete -- Chairman Capito would like to invite Secretary Duffy to appear at the EPW Committee to provide the Department's view on reauthorization of the highway bill. The chairman intends to begin work on the reauthorization bill early in order to leave plenty of time for a regular order process that results in a long term reauthorization bill being enacted before Sept. 30, 2026. She will begin the process with a hearing on February 26 with a panel of non-federal witnesses who will discuss the positive and negative aspects of the current law. The chairman would like Secretary Duffy to provide the Department's view on the current law as well as priorities for the next highway bill at a subsequent hearing in the early spring.
