Republican John Curtis has won the special election to replace former Rep. Jason Chaffetz in the House.
Curtis, the mayor of Provo, Utah, had 59 percent of the vote to Democrat Kathie Allen's 26 percent when The Associated Press called the race. Third-party candidate Jim Bennett, the son of former Republican Sen. Bob Bennett, had 9 percent. Chaffetz resigned from Utah's heavily Republican 3rd District on June 30, triggering a special election.
