Preliminary Program 163rd ACS National Meeting Boston, Mass., April 9-14,1972 GENERAL INFORMATION Advance Registration. In the interest of efficiency, persons attending national meetings are encouraged to register in ad vance. As an incentive for such advance registration, appreciable discounts in the registration fees are in effect. Those plan ning to attend the Boston meeting should fill out the registration card on page 25 and send it back prior to March 24. The current scale of fees for registra tion is as follows: Advance Fee $20 8 4 35 15 Classification of Registrant ACS Members, all nonU.S. residents, and all nonchemists and non chemical engineers (ex cept family of ACS members) Emeritus members and nonmember students Family of ACS mem bers, student members and student affiliates U.S. resident nonmem ber chemists and chem ical engineers One-day session ticket Site Fee $25 10 5 40 15 Registration facilities at the meeting will be located at the Sheraton-Boston, Consti tution Room Foyer (Plaza Level) and Statler Hilton, Mezzanine. Room Reservations should be made as soon as possible. A housing request form, and a map showing hotels in Boston will be found on pages 21 and 26. Please note that all housing requests must be sent to the Meetings and Expositions Department, ACS, 1155--16th St., N.W., Washington, D.C. 20036. Reservations will be confirmed directly to the individual concerned, indicating the hotel assign ment and guaranteed rate. Please allow the Meetings and Expositions Department at least two weeks to process your request before inquiring about it. Hotels are not obligated to hold reservations after 6 PM. unless specifically requested: HOLD FOR LATE ARRIVAL--GUARANTEED PAY MENT. Some hotels will require a de posit. The awards reception, dinner, and general meeting have been scheduled for Monday evening, April 10 in the Grand Ballroom, Sheraton-Boston (reception: 6: 30 PM.; dinner, 7:30 P.M.; general meet ing, 9 PM.). There will be additional seat ing for those wishing to attend only the general meeting. A ticket order form will appear in the final program. At the gen eral meeting, George B. Kistiakowsky will present the Priestley Medal Address en titled, "Our Science at the Crossroads." Committee Rooms. Groups planning com mittee sessions in conjunction with the Boston meeting are urged to submit their room requests immediately to the Meet ings and Expositions Department. Please indicate the day the space will be needed, the hours, equipment desired, and the ex pected attendance. Divisional Meeting Rooms. Divisional meeting rooms will be equipped with standard lantern-slide projectors--2" x 2" (35 mm.) and 3'A" x 4"--screens, black boards, flashlight pointers, chalk, and reading desk with pubtte address attach ments including lapel microphones. An attempt will be made to furnish motion picture and other special equipment upon the request of the divisions or individual if notice of such special needs is sent to the ACS Meetings and Expositions Depart ment by March 15.
