The unannounced inspection was conducted by Pamela Storm and Tony Spann who possess EPA inspector credentials to conduct CAA NESHAP asbestos inspections. The facility is a souvenir shop selling trinkets, candles, jellies and crafts. The inspectors discovered that renovations were occurring at the Facility by obtaining a copy of Permit #2023-021049 issued by the City of Marietta on April 13, 2023, for renovations including removing plywood panels on the walls and replacing the entire ceiling including the drywall and tiles. The purpose of the inspection was to determine compliance with the CAA NESHAP Asbestos Standard and the regulations promulgated at 40 CFR Part 61, Subpart M, for the renovation activity which occurred at the Facility. The EPA Region 4 CAA NESHAP asbestos program targets facilities for inspection located in the State of Georgia based on tips/complaints; permits issued on a local level; demolition and/or renovation/abatement notices sent to the State; and other relevant information concerning renovation/demolition activities at regulated facilities. This inspection was conducted based on the aforementioned permit for renovation activity at the Facility. Facility Information The Facility is a souvenir shop. Inspection Inspection The Facility was closed at the time of this inspection. Renovations were not occurring at the time of this inspection. The extent of renovations could not be determined from observing the Facility through the window.
