Y. 10016 (212) 661*8206 November 23, 1971 TO: AIA/NA BOARD OF DIRECTORS and ADMINISTRATIVE SUB-COMMITTEE RE: NEW MEMBERSHIP DRIVE On November 17, letters were sent to 16 companies in the North American asbestos industry inviting them to join the AIA/NA. Slightly different letters were sent to those compainies that are manufacturers of asbestos-containing products, and to those that are solely miners or importers of asbestos fiber. Copies of both types of letters are attached. Also attached, per the discussion at the last Board of Directors meeting, is a listing of the 16 invited companies together with the names of those AIA/NA Directors or Administrative Sub-Committee members who agreed to contact individual invited companies if they do not respond within three weeks of the date of the sending of the letters of invitation. Each Director will be informed if the company he agreed to contact has not responded within the time period agreed upon. Contacts should not be made before hearing from either A1 Fay, Bill Raines or myself. On November 19, letters of invitation were sent to an additional seven companies in the industry that did not attend the seminar, but which asked for "additional infor mation" about the AIA/NA. A copy of the letter sent to these companies is attached, together with a listing of the companies to which it was sent. Since no follow-up pro cedures were agreed upon for these companies, I would appreciate hearing from you as soon as possible which of the companies you would be willing to contact should they fail to respond within three weeks.
