Dr . Gordon G . Harrold, 17317 Varrington Drive, Detroit 21, Michigan.
Dear Gordon:
I am returning to you herewith your paper on fluoride3, about
which I have made some notations as a matter of record for my
own information, that of the Program Committee of A.I.H.A.
Let me suggelst that you write me a letter or send me a nota
tion giving me the title of any paper on this subject that
you wish to present to the Committee for consideration, giving
a brief resume of what you expect to present together with
the time you! will require for doing it. As I indicated the
other night, we shall assign a definite length of time for
each paper and will hold every speaker strictly to his allot
ment .
;
I should like to make the further suggestion, which you are quite at liberty to take or leave, that you confine your pre sentation t o ;the primary subject of fluorides in relation to welding operations. In this connection you will remember that there was a good deal on this subject at last year's meeting. However, that is no reason for dropping It. My suggestion is based on the fact that a review of the literature and of the various aspects of this problem that now present themselves would have td be done very carefully and rather elaborately. I realize what this problem is, since we have had occasion to review the various aspects of It with considerable care. Unless it is done velry carefully you will bring considerable criticism upon yourself, and as a Program Committee we would be subject to criticism for having raised a series of questions that could not be discussed adequately in the time available. It Is for this reason that I suggest that you give your attention to one phase of the subject without elaborating too much on the com plexity of thd problem and without attempting to interpret the Information available on other phases of it.
I trust the meeting went along successfully after I left it last week. It was a pleasure to see you again, and I want to take this occasion to express my best wishes for your success in your new relationship.
Cordially yours,
FAR e f
