ENVIRONMENTAL RESEARCH FOUNDATION P.O .Box 73700 Washington, D.C. 20056-3700 (202)328-1119 -> ' L'~ i -September 18, 1991 Ms.. Sheila West Staff Specialist Centers for Disease Control 1600 Clifton Road, D36 Atlanta, GA 30333 Dear Ms. West, On September 18, I wrote a Freedom of Information Act request to Marilyn Fingerhut of NIOSH. I am attaching a copy of that FOIA letter, marked APPENDIX A; attached to it is a letter from James Collins to Marilyn Fiiigerhut dated June 1, 1990, which I had enclosed to help Dr. Fingerhut understand my FOIA request; I have attached a copy of the Collins letter marked APPENDIX B. In my September 18 letter to Dr. Fingerhut, I requested copies of six letters she had allegedly received from the Monsanto Company, as mentioned in the Collins letter. Today I received a reply from Dr. Fingerhut's office, telling me I must place my request through you. I am attaching a copy of Dr. Fingerhut's letter marked APPENDIX C. The purpose of this present letter is to do what Dr. Fingerhut said I should do, which is to request from you copies of the six letters that I had initially requested from Dr. Fingerhut. Please see Appendix A and consider this letter as an FOIA request to you for copies of the documents described in Appendix A. If you decide to deny any portion of this request, I request that you provide me in writing the specific reasons for your denial. I look forward to receiving a prompt reply from you-- no more than 10 working days from the date you receive this. Thank you very much for your assistance. Sincerely yours, Peter Montague, Ph.D. 000330 U054S
