"Normal use" of scrap metal includes cutting and/or welding which may give off hazardous fumes. Also, as previously communicated by my letter of January 15, 1987, some scrap metal material may contain asbestos material such as gaskets, packing, etc. Material Safety Data sheets for plastic, asbestos, various metals, and other materials which may be present in scrap metal dempsters are attached for: Carbon steel A1uminum Bronze Nickel alloys Stainless Teflon Cast iron A1 loy steel Aluminum alloys Copper Titanium Fiberglas Kynar Ductile iron Steel Brass Nickel Plastics Saran Polypropylene Iron alloy A copy of the attached warning label for scrap metal and asbestos will be issued with each M.S.I. at scales when driver has load of scrap metal weighed.
