September 23, 1947 Dr . .. L. Rankin, E . I. Du Pont de Nemours and Co., Du Pont Building, Wilmington 98, Delaware. Dear Dr. Rankin: I am sending you herewith a copy of the letter to which we referred in our conversation of last Thursday. From this you will see that my recollection of this was correct and that my figure of 4.3 c.c. per U. S. gallon is also correct so far as the present record goes. To the best of my knowledge and belief, the figure of 4.6, which has been referred to, relates to the practice of the military authorities during the war. However, I shall check this point through every source I have available. I was able to meet Dr. Townsend in Washington on Saturday. I dis cussed the situation with him, and found that he was completely ready to accept the record, and if necessary to clarify it further at this time. I think, therefore, there is no remaining problem on this matter. I am bringing this letter to Dr. Townsend's attention, so that he can trace it in the files. I shall be ready shortly to give you the date for your visit to the Laboratory. With kindest regards. Sincerely yours, : AK ef Enc. Robert A. Kehoe, M. D. 0009312
