Occupational Health Research & Training Facility Bureau of State Services 1011* Broadway Cincinnati 2, Ohio Dear Dr, Cralley: the Board of Governors in session on January 2k, 1963, considered the request by members of the Public Health Service and members of the asbestos textile industry that Dr, Paul Gross, Pathologist, Industrial Hygiene Foundation, Mellon Institute, Pittsburgh. Pa,, be invited to represent the Asbestos Textile Institute in company with certain mem-- bers of the Public Health Service at a conference of the Asbestosis Research Council, London, England, to be held during the early part of 1963. It is understood that the Asbestos Textile Institute is assuming no financial obligation in this endeavor but that the expenses involved in travel, lodging, etc,, are to be assumed by Dr, Gross through ar rangeraents made by him with other agencies and/or individuals. The Board of Governors was unanimous in its approval to have Dr, Gross attend the Asbestosis Council meetings in England as a representative of the Institute, realising that through this experience, he and those who will attend these meetings with his, will gain much in experience and understanding related to many of the problems which will be en countered in the Public Health Service survey of the asbestos industry. Recognizing that our English friends have been investigating the pro blems involved in this area of study for many years and have accumulated a considerable amount of experience and know-how, it is reasonable to assume that such a cooperative effort should be undertaken.
