L, CAIRNS, C&P, CHESTNUT RUN MINUTES OF 9/15/83 MEETING AT NEWPORT ( Present) Quality Performance NJK reviewed performance on goal Q/S reduction for first eight months 1983 (re: NJK to Committee on subject 9/1/83). After an excellent first half performance, we have seen a signi ficant increase in complaints during July and August. The July/ August incidents were reviewed in detail along with comments from customer contacts made by Technical Service and Production personnel to complaint accounts. Color Specifications - REPreported that plant data collection is on schedule for completion year end '83 for color data and by mid '84 for other spec data. ELC will contact F&FP on tentative color specs to develop improved understanding of Customer needs and to propose revisions to specificg^ions'to improve long term performance against specif iccctiojis. \ . I REP, PAW wiXl investigate cost and timing for computer modifications at/Newark to develop capability for statistical qua1ityuata^pefmpilation. ii -2- Quality Control WMW summarized the initial results on quality testing cross audits. It appears all locations have good agreement on color reading of prepared panels. However, preparation of exhibits at the three locations differs and may lead to test inconsistencies. ELCairns will conduct an indepth audit at Newart and Newport the week of 9/19 and will recommend changes necessary for testing uniformity. DEY repoted on new Q/C program for testing accelerated durability of production lots at Chestnut Run. Test differences on RT-759-D quality were discussed. Further lab work will be completed by 9/23 in order to deter mine disposition of 25M# "in testing" inventory. Guides to Standardization DEY reviewed proposed condensed version of the guides to product standard candidates testing. Some revisions were suggested to add more detail to the guides and these were accepted. Further comments will be received by 9/23. DEY will issue to group after comments and the guides will then be used for new candidates and will also be used for our 1984 customer literature on quality assurance. Standard Candidates Status Status of active testing is attached, Five product standards have been accepted and will i be recommended to the Business Center. Three additional products have been accepted at Chestnut Run. Two product standard candidates were rejected. Newark Will review data and collect new candidate lots.
