After the PVC blend tank ventilation system was installed in March 1974, a continuous sample of the ventilation exhaust was taken to the Bendix
chromatograph. It was found that the VC1 and propylene contents of the stream always exceeded the chromatograph scale. The average readings
are as follows:
Vinyl Chloride
Vinyl Acetate Propylene
> 200 ppm
8 ppm >50 ppm
>3.2 lbs./hr.
0.13 Ibs./hr. >0.81 lbs./hr.
The laboratory has been asked to spot check the stream to determine actual propylene and VC1 contents.

Attached is a summary of the PVC-VC1 losses as calculated for the PVC
March Material Balance. These losses are calculated on better data than
the February losses and are probably more typical to our current operation.
Reductions in items 1, Z, and 4 are partially due to better analysis, but also
reflect better stripping operation. This is also reflected in our better Monthly
Efficiency.

The attached summary also lists our Year-To-Date (Y. T. D. ) totals of losses and % loss. These numbers are Y.T.D. totals starting with February 1974, the first month of this program.
