Mr. Edwin S* Hall Standard Oil Company of New Jersey 26 Broadway New York
Dear Mr, H a H s
I have your letter of November
l6th and being duly advised, 1 shall certainly make
every effort to be present at the trial of the!
case, if It comes off* I can not but wonder whether
the Insistence on a re-trial is not bluff, and I still
have hopes that I will soon hear from you to the effect
that this trial has at least been postponed, I sincerely
hope this is the case,
_
Doubtless by this time Mr* Maxwell
of Socony-Vacuum has called you to say that my services
are urgently requested by them in an Industrial Commission
case which is to be held in Ogdensburg on December 11th,
I suggested that he call yew in order that he might have
the benefit of your reaction to the likelihood of ray being
available at that date* I trust you will let me know what
to expect at the earliest possible time* I am holding
myself In readiness, if need be, to be in South Carolina
at the proper time* r
