BURGER ----------------- ,FPD BLOOD SAMPLING PROGRAM -C -8 In our communication of March 1, 1982 we s ta te d th a t n e ith e r DuPont nor 3M has detected, any adverse health e f f e c t s a t tr ib u t e d t o C -8 a t th e le v e ls measured in the blood o f employees. As a r e s u lt , we plan t o reduce our C-8 blood san p lin g program to in clude only, those personnel who d ir e c t ly handle C-8 and have the g reatest p o te n tia l fo r 'exposure. Continued blood sam pling o f th ese people i s the best way to assure th a t th e exposure control program is effecti ve. For another y e a r, we wi l l continue sa n p lin g th e females who l e f t the d iv is io n in 1981 and any personnel with high values who leave the d iv is io n s . These sanples w i l l help us determine the rate o f e lim in a tio n o f C -8 from the blood. The in d iv id u a ls in volved w i l l be contacted s e p a r a te ly . We plan t o sample new permanent Fluoropolym ers Production personnel as they en ter the d iv is io n . Annual samples w i l l be taken in con ju nction with t h e ir normal p h y s ic a ls . Production job s in clu d ed wi l l be TFE S erv ice Operator, FEP Serv ice O perator, TFE Processing Operator and FEP P rocessing Operator. In order to accomplish better follow -up and to monitor progress of C-8 control programs, the blood sampling data w i l l be made a v a i l a b l e t o supervision on a need-to-know b a s is .
