Dear Dr. McConnell: I am enclosing a letter which has been sent to the members of the Lancaster County Medical Society concerning the program we have arranged for January" 5, 1948 which I felt would interest you. I realize the subject "Industrial Medicine" is very broad, but I felt you could deoide yourself just what would be of interest to this group. Most of them, I feel, do not have much of an understanding of Industrial Medicine and its aims. I would appreciate if you would send me a bibliography of yourself which I may use in introducing you. At the December moating of tho Lancaster City & County Medical Sooioty our invitation to hold your next meeting Vednead&y, January B, at the Lancaster Floor Plant of the Armstrong Cork; Company was presented, and we have been informed by Dr. Workman, President of your Sooiety that the invitation was aooepted. The main purpose of this meeting is to give the members of your organization an opportunity to inspect our Emergency Hospital vhioh has just been completely remodeled and in whioh much new equipment has been installed. A brief tour of our plant, whioh will inolude a visit to the Bmergenoy Hospital, is soheduled to start at 5:30 P.U. Pinner will be served at 6:30 P.H. in our Plant Cafeteria. After dinner we shall as semble in our new Auditorium where Dr. W. J. UoConnell, well-known Med ical Direotor of the Industrial Division of the Metropolitan Life Insur ance Company, will address the group on the subject of the "Industrial He&ioine." The regular business meeting of your Sooiety will be held after Dr. McConnell*s talk. When you reaoh the Main Offloe Building of the Armstrong Cork Company on West Liberty Street, there wil be a uniformed guide to direot you to a reserved parking area and also to direot you to the en trance of the Faotory Administration Building. Members of my staff will be on hand at that point to oonduot the hospital and the plant tour in small groups. Arrangements, will be made for you to receive promptly any emer gency telephone oalls. Any calls expected should be made to Armstrong Cork Company, Phone Ho. 5151, and the operator will get the message to you at onee. If you find it impossible to be here at 5:30 P.M., we want you to feel free to join the group at any time you oan, and we especially want you to be our guest for the dinner served at 6:30 P.M.
