Taylor Star Route, Box 83 Chester, Arkansas 72934 Dear Mr. Taylor: This letter is to confirm that you have been examined in the office beginning on September 22, 1981 for an abnormal chest x-ray. We have been quite concerned about what this x-ray may represent, especially with your history of asbestos exposure on the job. In reviewing your old x-rays since 1975 we have found that the abnormality which is present now on your x-rays was probably present as early as 1975. The only way to be absolutely certain what these pleural abnormalities represent is to obtain a biopsy. However, due to the hazards this would impose upon you I do not feel that it is a feasible method of pursuing this problem. One method which might offer benefit of determining the etiology of these pleural abnormalities is to have a mediastinal CT Scan. Due to the nature of this procedure it is felt that we could separate deposition of pleural fat which is one possibility to cause this abnormality from pleural plaquing caused by asbestos exposure. If the x-ray did show these lesions to be pleural plaques I believe that it is most likely caused by your exposure to asbestos.
