Singet> at Delanco, N.J. y / '7 Subject INDUSTRIAL HYGIENE INSPECTION - PROCRESS REPORT Pursuant to an inspection of cur Accessory Department by Al Tremrxrshausen, on October 25-26, and a subsequent report of November 13, enumerated below is a progress report on recommendations made as a result of that inspection. 1. Improve the hood over the hopper: The Maintenance Dept, is putting the finishing touches on a vinyl shield which fits between the exhaust vents and the hopper. This shield will eliminate any external draft and permit the exhaust vents to trap all dust created in the mixing process. Dividing of Asbestos Bags: As our formulation calls for 150 lbs of asbestos per batch, once asbestos is received in 50 lb bags, there should be no need for any division of bags. However, should our formula change, any cutting and dividing will be done off the floor. 50 lb Asbestos Bags: Our supplier of asbestos was contacted in late October and our December shipment of Asbestos is in 50 lb bags. This is now a permanent arrangement. Encapsulated Pallets: In conjunction with Item 3, all asbestos pallets are encapsulated in "shrink-wrap" by our supplier. 5. Spills: A vacuum cleaner not being used in another department has been sent to the Maintenance Dept, tor overhaul. Inception - one month. * 6. Leaks in System: Our Maintenance Dept, is currently patching any leaks and/or replacing rotted or badly damaged pipe. 7. Bag Disposal: V*e have purchased plastic crash bags. All asbestos bags, when empty are placed into these bags, sealed and dumped. We have not begun labeling of trash bags as of this date. Summarily, with the exception of minor patch work on the ducts, vacuum cleaner overhaul, and labeling of disposal bags, we have achieved compliance with Al's recommendations. jat
