Dear Manfreds I have read the enclosure contained in your letter of May 2h regarding a proposed study postulating lead toxicity arising from inter ference with Coensyme A* I can give you only a casual opinion supple mented by an equally unbriefed opinion from several of my colleagues who are sore knowing in enzymology than 1. An effect of lead on Coenzyme A through the sulfhybryl group is not implausible and it is possible that such an effect would be as sociated with pantothenic acid deficiency. It would, however, seem more logical to carry out in vitro and in vivo studies directed specifically at Co enzyme A inactivation before undertaking the study outlined.
