FEDERAL The federal regulations at the present tiny, state that paint may contain up to It lead and be considered lead free. EFFECTIVE JANUARY 1, 1971 th* new regulations will make it necessary for all paint products to contain no more than .51 lead. At ths I present tine all of our spray paint products comply with the 1/2 of i It with the exception of engine enamels, tractor and implement enam els, and School Bus Yellow, Thes'e products will be reformulated to meet the 1/2 of It for compliance, e f f e c t iv e JANUARY 1, 1974 the new regulations will again be lowered to ,0ft (lead tracas). Wa hava bean advised by our raw material suppliers that our raw material presently meets the .06% standard with the exception of engine enamels, trsetor end implement enamels, and School Bus Yellow, as ststsd above, other than thasa products, | all of our produets are formulated using non*lead raw matanala, in cluding driers and pigments wnieh ire the normal aoureas of load. This ordinance does not affect aerosol paints until January 1, 1973. It should be noted the Chicago ordinance as identi cal to phase' 2 of* the federal law, however, it goes into effect on* year earlier. The,National Paint and Coatings Association and the Chicago Paint, Varnish and Lacquer Association intend to file in the district courts, against the Chicago eity ordinance on tne grounds it is unconstitu tional, it denies dua process and equal privileges under the law.
