INTER-COMPANY AND INTER-DEPARTMENTAL CORRESPONDENCE to: Don Marino FROM: DATE: SUBJECT: Arsen Santighian July 15, 1974 I understand the necessity of having a second source of fiber supplier, but "Hedman Fiber", in my opinion, is the last to be considered because it is, in fact, Asbestos. My opinion in that subject matter is: 1. A written contract with Interpace to avoid any displeasure in Wollastonite supply. type 2. To initiate a research program of finding out the possibilities of milling West Coast Wollastonlte in order to get a Fj, type Intcrpace Wollastonite'. 3. To install an adequate mill in Cleveland or Mt. Braddock plants in order to use Interpace or West Coast raw Wollastonite in converting it to F^ type (the cost could be evaluated at around $150,000 return able in around 1 year). 4. Giving higher consideration to Profax 2000 or other similar ideas in which not to use F^ type of Wollastonite. AS/lr cc: W. J. Vandemark H. D.--Shephard File rOS--00--02>B2>00 FOSECO 2578
