In a statement of administration policy, the White House said President Donald Trump's advisers would recommend that he sign the bill, H.R. 2874. The administration endorsed provisions of the bill that would try to reduce the number of legal hurdles for private companies seeking to offer flood insurance outside of the government program. The White House signaled it wanted to see additional changes to the NFIP, including the phasing out of coverage for newly constructed buildings and commercial properties. WHAT'S NEXT: The House Rules Committee was scheduled to consider the flood insurance bill this evening.
