Flynn August 14, 1974 Bob Buehler advised me yesterday that the Senate Commerce Committee would be holding hearings on vinyl chloride on August 21. This is supposed to be a one-day hearing. On checking with MCA and SPI, I obtained the following list of witnesses: 1. MCA is trying to line up Torgelson of Dow to testify on the animal studies. 2. EPA. 3. National Cancer Institute. 4. Dr. Irving J. Selikoff. 5. OCAW. 6. SPI - plans are that Ralph Harding will testify for SPI. He will be accompanied by Jerry Heckman. It was the thinking of both MCA and SPI that this hearing is being conducted in order to get the Toxic Substance Act passed. Bob Buehler tells me that the Toxic Substance Act will be in con ference between the House and the Senate starting August 19.
