As I mentioned to you earlier, there is one more search my group needs this year and would like to have completed, if possible, by the end of .October 1969. The siibject is hot melt adhesives and coatings contain ing one synthe-tlc resin or plasticizer or * tackifier as a component. . Apart from the obvious headings, "Hot meltV, "Adhesives" and 'fcoatin^s", you may find relevant information under "Tackifier", "Ethylene-vinyl acetate", "Rosin and rosin esters", "Wax and microcrystallilje wax", "Asphalt", "Aroclor" or "Chlorinated polypiffny Is", "Polyterpenes" and "Hydrocarbon resins", etc. Our interest is related to the planned expansion of Monsanto's Aroclor production facilities and our need actively to promote Aroclors when the new plant capacity comes on-stream. We are interested in non-toxicity of adhesives inasmuch as some applications involve wrapping of foodstuffs in films or containers stuck down with hot melt adhesives or coated with hot melt coatings but the toxicity aspect is not the major purpose of the search because we know how to get most of the toxicity data needed. We hope that you can find the important patents and technical articles published during the last fifteen years and give me a report for an expenditure not ex ceeding ^2000.
