AND TO QUOTE Mr. MESECK...
"This outstanding towboat feat was accomplished through the pinpoint ma neuverability of our tugs, which assured the result of the precision-planned operation/'
The Iasi trip of the once proud NORM ANDIE, to her consignment with the wrecking crew, was undoubtedly one of the greatest to" ing jobs ever performed. It was charted and executed by Mescck Towtng Lines, Inc., of New York City.
The hazardous twelve mile trip, from Brook lyn to Port Newark, had to be planned with almost stop-watch precision. Bergen Point, where three tides converge, had to be negotiated at just the right time; the enormous hulk had to be handled with masterful accuracy through
the drawbridge shown in the photograph, w here the slightest contact with her 64,000 tons would have meant disaster; around treacherous rocks; and through shallow and narrow chan nels, with a foot and a half of water under the big ship's keel.
Since 1937, Meseck Towing Lines, Inc., have standardized on Skinner Marine Unaflow Steam Engines, giving further evidence of their dependability, their maneuverability, anJ their unmatched low maintenance and operating cost.
