We lean heavily on your Harben lectures, especially your statements of below 80 ug/lOOg of blood lead being a safe level for our labor force. Of 18 employees tested last month: 1 was 30 5 were 40-49 3 were 50-57 5 were 60-69 1 was 70 1 was 72 1 was 74 1 was 7 8 OSHA has regulated 70 ug/lOOg as of March 1, 1980, 60 ug/lOOg for the 3rd and 4th year and 50 ug/lOOg for the fifth year and thereafter. This and many other restraints, they say, are necessary to maintain the individual's health. We are directly affected and concerned that we may be unable to meet these very restrictive regulations, especially for 3 of our 18 employees. We wonder whether your position as to these new levels agrees with these new standards, and would be most grateful if you would care to respond.
