Joe, Jonathan & Trish,
I hope you are doing well. I know you all are still getting everything stood up over there and we appreciate the consistent outreach y'all have had over these past few weeks.
Below is a Request for Information from Chairman Womack and Senator Boozman. For background, the Maritime Transportation Research and Education Center (MarTREC) is affiliated with the University of Arkansas and located in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Chairman Womack and Senator Boozman are very supportive of President Trump and Secretary Duffy's commitment to protecting federal spending and federal investments. They are also very supportive of MarTREC and its work furthering Arkansas's maritime and multimodal transportation industry. We understand, in response to President Trump's Executive Orders, that DOT is conducting a review of UTCs including MarTREC.
1. Do you have a timeline for review of the MarTREC program and its funding?
2. Should any of the pre-Trump Administration requirements for MarTREC be in conflict with President Trump's executive orders, will MarTREC be given an opportunity to amend its application/program guidelines to meet current requirements?
3. Will DOT be looking at individual projects/initiatives or will this review judge MarTREC as a whole?
I've included Andrew from Senator Boozman's team along with Naomi from our team and Avery from the THUD staff for their awareness. Please let me know if you have any questions or need additional information .
Thanks,
Nick
