Remarks
Initially we had only Noxide One Day Primer Red in the line. In 1957 a gray primer was added to provide the means for doing two-coat work under white and light tints. In I960 both the Red and Gray primers were revised to incorporate an orange-colored rust iphibltive pigment. This pigment, basic lead silico-chromate, altered the color of the primers. The Red became yellower and the Gray deeper and slightly redder.
It is now possible to obtain equal rust inhibitive properties with a *diite pigment, dibasic lead phosphite. This rust inhibiting pigment is more costly to use, but it does permit the formulation of a white primer which further improves the appearance of twocoat work.
