MOUSE FEEDING STUDY - 21 DAYS
ft Summary:
was fed to male and female Crl:CD-l
mice at 8' lose levels (from 0.01 ppm o 30 ppm) for 21 consecutive** days.
Livers were signtticantly heavier at 30 ppm, slightly heavier at 3 Ppm and appeared nonnal at 10 ppm in male and female mice. No changes in liver weight were seen at feeding levels ot 1 ppm or lower and the significance of the change observed at 3 ppm, in light of no differences at 10 ppm, is
questionable.
The only clinical sign observed was sporadic weight loss.
Procedure: Forty-five male and 45 female albino Crl:CD-l mice (ages 41 and 42 days, weighing 21-33 g) were grouped by body weight, 5 animals per group,
fJe&df l by computerized randomizjcion. The mice were housed individually and
for" (suspended in IZ corn oil before being mixed in ground Purina Lab Chowft*) for
21 consecutive days at dose levels of either 30, 10, 3, 1, 0.3, 0.1, 0.03 or
0.01 ppm. An additional group of male and female mice served as controls and
received ground Purina Lab Chow only. Individual body weights were recorded
weekly, clinical signs daily and liver weights at the 21-day sacrifice.
